20 April: Westminster!

 Today (well, yesterday) was our first real day in London. Just like many other groups, we decided to go to Westminster on the remarkably beautiful day. Today we have seen; The big Ben, Reagents Park, Buckingham Palace, the Surpreme Court, and many other things I cannot recall at the moment since I just woke up and I am pretty sleepdrunk!

Let's start by our morning. We decided to go out grocery shopping with all 8 of us. Everyone gave 10 pounds, so we could buy basics everybody uses. We've been in the store for (I kid you not) almost an hour. In the meantime I bought some things just for myself, like specific drinks. Anyway we got back and had brunch (because some hadn't had breakfast yet), and after that we headed out the door.

Since we're not used to the Underground system here in London, it is always pretty hard to figure out where we have to go and if we're going in the right direction. Luckily we haven't made a mistake yet! Anyway we got to Westminster Underground Station, and when we got out of the tube (those things are really deep under the ground, and I see why people use an escalator there!), the first thing we saw was... The Big Ben! As it is one of the spots you have to visit if you are in London, I made a selfie (yes yes, I know...), and "picture or it didn't happen", so here is mine;

Okay, after this we just went everywhere. I still cannot really recall where we have been, so here's what I remember: Westminster, Houses of Parliament, Surpreme Court, Reagents Park, Buckingham Palace, another park I forgot the name of, a church I forgot the name of, and some other minor stuff.

We walked everywhere, never took the tube. It was fun, but eventually our legs were getting a bit tired. The weather was lovely, so when we arrived at Reagents park, we had a break for about an hour laying in the sun.

 Some of us really felt like getting ice cream, but they had a heart attack once they saw the prices: 2,90 POUNDS for 1 scoop of ice cream! So we just kept on walking till no end. We were pretty hungry, and decided to head towards the London Eye and searched for a place to have dinner.

And boy, what a dinner we had! The food was excellent, we were supplied with plenty of water (for free, in London. Can you believe it?), and we even got free desert aka Baklava from the owner of the restaurant. And I checked the bill, and it really wasn't charged at all. Neither were the service costs. 10/10 would go there again. We got pretty tired so we headed back, but not before making photos of the London Eye by night. I made all good pictures with my camera (but my chromebook isn't capable of opening those), so I made a few with my normal camera.

I must say, London is beautiful by night. It is a breathtaking sight to see some monuments lit by night. Of course my phone camera wasn't capable of capturing its radiance, but once I am home I'll post a few pictures of the monuments with proper light!

So, for tomorrow (or today), we will have an educational trip around London. We'll see what tomorrow (today) will bring us!

Have a nice day everyone,

Gaby out.
